These lovely Art Deco bookends were designed by George Nilsson (1888-1975) for Gero, Netherlands. The cute rabbit shape is made of chromed metal with a long plate. The bookends are engraved with the "GERO" factory hallmark and the artist's monogram "GN" at the end of each base. These lovely bookends are a great addition to your interior or bookcase library.
Note: George Nilsson was Danish and worked for the Georg Jensen Company. In 1925, he left to design for Gero.
Gero was founded in 1912 as Gerofabriek in Zeist, Holland. In the 1920s, Gero began to hire renowned artists to design their collections, including Chris Van Der Hoef, A. D. Copier, and George Nilsson. Nilsson worked mainly in the Danish subsidiary of Gero, which produced pieces for the Danish domestic market. The great depression caused the Danish branch of the company to close in 1933.
